| Unless my info is really off it's looking like they are about 250 new. So like 150?? I did the same thing, depowered the power rack and had that for a back up but it worked like a charm. It's easier to turn now than with power assist. | |

| Nagano, out of VA. They had plenty of great feedback and the pullout looks to be in good shape. Also ordered an SS elbow, SS down pipe, SS clutch line, and some other little things. Linky - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Next big purchase is going to be a Koni/GC setup. 2K lb curb weight is looking very doable. | |

| I'm disappointed with Nissan - Installing cast iron brackets on an otherwise all aluminum block. Cutting costs, but still...
I was intending to make some sort of CF alternator bracket for my 5.3 LS, so we'll see what I end up doing on the SR. A heim joint style adjuster/mount looks possible.
Cast iron isn't sticking around on the car if I can help it though.

| Looks like a nice engine. It is missing the factory boost solenoid. Not a big deal if you are going to run a aftermarket. otherwise you are limited to 7lbs the wastegate is set at. The mounts look like a good score. Maybe you will end up with a nice clutch and flywheel also. | |

| How does this solenoid affect the turbo's overall operation?
Sounds similar to an ECU regulated boost controller off hand.

| It is basically a boost controller. It allows the turbo to hit 11lbs which is the stock amount from the factory compared to 7lbs that everyone claims because they do not have this part. What is wierd is that it is on the same bracket as the ignitor chip and fo whatever reason someone removed it from yours. Probably the car it was in had a aftermarket controller so they removed the factory one. Not a big deal though. | |

| Judging by a quick search this isn't kept on most swaps. So a standard MBC in between the WG signal and the vacuum source should work fine, right?

| Yeah, it will work just fine. It is just odd that most swaps don't get this part. The stock turbo is pretty much maxed out at 12-13lbs. any way. So if you want more boost a bigger turbo would be needed and then you would install some sort of boost control device at that point anyway. | |

| I am considering the much loved GT2871 as a future option. My priority is weight reduction and driver training over more power though.
Also ordered a tubular exhaust manifold and new O.E gaskets. Thinking about having the manifold coated locally as well. Would look nice in semi gloss black with a heat shield mounted for a more stock appearance.

| I like this thread. In to see the home-fabbed weight weenie mods that I'd like to do on my own project once the primary "running" goal is achieved. | |

You mean when I drop in the LS3? Kidding, that'll come much later. 77, keep your eyes peeled. I have rolls of CF and resin at my disposal and I am very creative. Although not particularly quick with the pictures. My idea to do away with the cast iron alternator mount and replace it with a threaded heim joint. This is on a boosted LS1 - Same idea. | make us cf parts! recoup some build costs while hooking fellow owners up. i wouldn't mind a carbon coilpack cover or b-pillar trim. maybe a carbon panel to replace sunroof glass but retain the function of it. i wouldn't mind a panel for my dash for gauges
