| Subject: Fuel pump. Fri Jan 27, 2012 9:37 am | |
| I live in kenosha, and after we got some snow i went out drifting, after awhile my car started dying only when taking a hard right turn or moderatly fast right turn. I read a guy had a similar problem and he found that he did not have a fuel pump bracket that held it in place, whitch makes sence to me. So i took mine out and i dont see a bracket or anywear that a bracket could be placed/ or bolted to so the fuel pump would be secure. So i was wondering if anyone had any input on were the bracket would be placed, or were to get one. Its a 89 s13 hatch with a 93 swap. Thanks. | |

| This is what the guy is talking about [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]check all the electrical connections going to the fuel pump, there is a chance that your wiring might have an issue when the car turns wires might touch and cause the pump to shut off. Other then that it will be tricky to check, Make sure your fuel hanger has everything in that picture and everything is in good shape and not loose/broken/etc. | |

| Man i feel dumb. So its not an actual bracket it with the pump. Ok, Then i have that and its solid, and the wires arnt touching and there all solid and not loose. I do have a small orange hose that comes from the top of the fuel pump and and then drop down with a rubber clamp around that and the pump. But is that just for s13 or is that a picture of a s14 pump?

| this is a S13 hanger, the hose might be your problem. if your hose is orange that goes from the fuel pump to the top hat/metal nipple it could be a non gas approved hose that might have a small hole/cut in it that causes low fuel pressure. | |

| Ill check the hose. Any other idea why it could die only on a hard right turn? I dont have a power steering leak, and nothing is gettting pinched. I figured it was the fuel realated because of it sloshing around or something. | |

| Also on the picture you have, the top of the pump has that small screw infront there, mine does not have that, and when i disconnected one of the the lines on the top hat a small square looking washer fell out. Should mine have that screw blocking that hole off? | |

| Sorry for even putting this as a questian guys. I feel like a complete dumbass. When i was drifting i had a little more than half a tank, and today i just filled her up and she didnt die. I found it hard to beleive that even on a half of a tank that there wouldnt be enough gas and it would starve. sorry again guys. | |

| 1/2 tank on fuel gauge = no actual fuel left in tank?
If the sender gets bumped or jostled this is not uncommon to have happen.

| It had a plastic band around the fuel pump and I rpkaced that with a metal one so its more solid that could have been it. Well now that that is cleared up, I have one more quick questian, can you get launch control on the stock ecu like get it chipped? | |

| Well it was fine for a few days but the problem persists. So I think the pump is going iout or the fuel is not being baffeld. But if it was the pump I think it should die anytime just not on right turns. And I dont how the fuel baffler could break cause its nothing electronic | |

| Haha. That could be anything. Check the grounds. I highly doubt its the pump going bad, just like you said. Its gotta be something swinging that becomes disconnected during your right turns. Does everything shut off (dash lights, etc.), or just the engine? If everything shuts off (besides the stereo), you might wanna check the ecu and make sure its bolted down and the plug is in tight.
You never know, with these cars, people like to take it all apart and some will have leftovers nuts and screws when putting it back together. Good luck.

| I think it is the pump now because a few days ago it died six times when i was just driving down the road, no turns or nothing. So i know its something fuel related. Pump or fpr. | |

| Did you replace the fuel filter? They are cheap. Maybe when you were out "drifting" You stirred up some debris/sediment in the bottom of the fuel tank and that clogged the fuel filter. | |

| You asume because i am young i cannot drift, so you put it in quotes? lol And yes, Yes the fuel filter is only a few weeks old actually. That what leades me to the pump. Its the only fuel related part i havent changed. | |
