I'm using my stock single cam throttle cable with my SR. Works and fits nicely, just like it did when I had the LS1 in the car.

What part of the cable didn't work for you?

It stretched across my valve cover all ghetto like. It would have worked sure, but I can't rig anything on my car. Its principle.

It seemed short on mine? The DOHC one fits AWESOME and was cheap as dirt. Loops around to stock SR throttle cable holders and everything, super clean install.

Maybe you have a DOHC one already? LOL.

Yup, and you'll eventually just learn where you want to be in what situation. Give it a shot, just don't go 65 km/h on the freeway. Laughing

I plan to convert my 180SX cluster from km/h to mph just because I want a nearly functioning 180mph speedo.
Unless I can find a hud cluster to change a few things on... then I get digital speedo and they have a switch to do both.
I hope either you or Speed do it so I can ask questions later if I have any.

Im going to do it tonight for a study break. I'll post the results but I do not have my Trans connectors hooked up yet so I'll only be able to report on rpm/tach/coolant ect

Plus with the JDM gauges you will get the proper 7500 rpm redline!

Well the JDM cluster works like a charm! I had the unfair advantage of getting the cluster from my clip so its the correct year/model/motorset ect. I am sure you can make nearly any of them work, but mine just so happened to be plug and play.

Got wideband installed/wired up. I have found I am ridiculously rich most of the time with that walbro Razz

Developed a sweet coolant leak at heater core (externally) and my moroso pan still drips a drop of oil from the backside (the problem side). I called enjuku and they will warranty my pan and let me pick another one if I so choose. Bonus points for enjuku. No questions asked, ken really understood my situation and made instant results.

Sucks I will have to take that off and send it back again. Hooray for downtime.

Got my regular SR power steering pump/bracket, so now I can have power steering to race on sunday (fingers crossed).

I am sorta jealous of the JDM cluster wish I had one. My car ran rich also the AFPR didn't change it much either. helped a little at WOT and that was about it. The only real way to correct it is with tuning from my understanding. Glad the gauge is working though, I just got my Innovate it looks nice.

Took the car to her first event yesterday for the SCCA event at Miller.

Car was insanely fast! I could not believe how quick the car is now compared to before. I usually run right behind my buddies 5.0 swapped E36 BMW.

His best run - 71.7
My best run - 68.8

Overall his driving skill is above mine (he is a driving instructor) and when we codrive the same car for an event he consistently performs better than I do. I have the ability to pull out a ridiculously great run, but my "flow" isn't as good as his if you get my meaning.

I almost won SM class, but lost to a well prepared FC, had to take 2nd...boo...I was hoping for a win in the cars first event. Our cars were very similarly modified so it was a GREAT challenge. Battle of the turbo FC and the SR S13.

FC - 68.6
Ian - 68.8

I had way more problems with traction that I thought I would. Granted, it was like 48-50 degrees out or some crap, barely touching the throttle made me go sideways so throttle modulation was particularly important especially with the onset of boost. I am used to just planting my foot and turning the wheel because the KA was so slow and I had so much tire (255 XS's). Even with warm/hot 255's my rear end would come loose, I am just glad I have the 3.90 rear in there instead of the 4.10's otherwise it would be even more touchy.

Another HUGE difference is me not having a top out issue in 2nd (where autocross mostly takes place, obviously track days/lapping days don't apply) due to the 7500 rpm redline/3.90 rear. I could not find the top of 2nd, and if I did, I was going too fast to get properly settled into the next portion of the course. Smooth is fast in this game and the SR is so at home in this setting is hilarious.

I also can't miss a rev match to save my life, the SR blips/responds so great its almost unreal. 5-4-3-2-(1 if im feeling saucy) is like magic, cant describe it unless you have driven a car that sucks to rev match.

Found a few weaknesses on the car as well at the event:

1. Power steering leaked again, I have fixed this issue (M16 x 1.5 - 6AN adaptor on rack) 3 times now, trying a new o-ring, copper crush washer, gasket maker ect to the the high pressure line adapter to not leak and it does so ever so slightly. It doesn't pour out, but it gets wet gradually throughout the day. Kind of pissed its doing this for no good reason. I made sure to check the hole if an old o-ring was in there or some crap, but its clean as can be. I am going to use some anaerobic gasket maker/sealant (red threadlocker) and let it sit for a few days to cure and then try it again.

2. Poly urethane motor mounts. Can't do it. I enjoy driving my car for leisure and a full interior car turns into a rattle trap so bad its almost comical. I am sure I am just picky but I may go to either stock mounts or Nismo mounts, they both have to be better than what I've got.

3. Exhaust. I dont mind it, but I blew a 101 db at the event and got a warning for sound (limit is 100 db) so I will put a glass pack/resonator or something in my straight section. Summit has a sweet selection of low profile straight resonators that are 3" slip on types, so I will just cut out the 12-16" on my chop saw and install a resonator so I comply and don't get kicked out/banned. Which is unfortunately the next step if I come back with the loud car again.

Hot/cold makes a huge difference in sound due to air density, so the colder it is the louder your car is and it was about 42 when the meter measured me so I am betting this summer my car would be nowhere near that loud, but I am not taking any chances. Last thing I need is to get banned from SCCA events (because all other clubs attend these events, so I would basically get blacklisted by all the local clubs).

4. Still have a wee coolant leak, only springs when the car sits hot overnight, coming from heater hose to heater core. Will have to recheck that out.

5. Oil pan still gets slightly wet, though not actively leaking, its still a leak in my eyes and shouldn't be doing that when its brand new. Also this is the 2nd installation of the same god damn pan. So not cool. I measured the plane with machinists straight edge last time I had it off and its nowhere NEAR straight. The Moroso pan is not machined at the end when its done being made like the Greddy/ARC ect, so the welds have effectively warped it from being straight...what a gross oversight in quality control IMO.

So small changes in reality, everything else was like butter. I wish I had more dedicated vacuum ports though, I hate t'ing off all my vacuum/boost related items from the same source, makes them lazy to respond. If I hook them up individually for instance they respond crisply (boost controller for instance), but as soon as I "t" that crap together my boost spike comes back because so much air/pressure is moving over so many lines. Need to get a nice solid vacuum block setup done via a huge hole in the manifold. In due time.

I'm suprised your having traction issues with a 255 on your car, time to step up to a better compound?

Maybe, but it was really cold out (48, maybe 50 was the high) so I attribute the crappy traction to the conditions at the time. I LOVE to run in the street tire class, stepping up a compound would put me in the R compound class and my times would drop a ton...but what fun is switching to slicks/pulling a trailer, buying a new set of wheels/tires ect?

I am already on the stickiest compound allowable on a "street" tire, so upgrading is not an option really. Razz

So I got it dyno'ed today....

235 WHP, 255 WTQ on a Mustang dyno. All runs were done at 15 psi. From what I read the Mustang dyno typically reads a little on the low side compared to a Dynojet, so that makes me even more stoked.

Figuring a rough 15% drivetrain loss I am making 276 HP/300 TQ at 15psi on the stock T25...not bad at all!

I was super stoked at the numbers, it was more than I was expecting to be honest. My roommate also made 217 WHP/ 250 WTQ in his 5.0 swapped E36. Beat him in both HP and TQ! Who would have thought?

Now its no longer a mystery!

That is great. Essentially it sound like you have maxed that turbo out. Time for bigger everything now, right? Twisted Evil Although I believe that 15PSI with the T25 is out of its range and you don't want to go much past 13 from what I understand. What are your AFRs like. Mine were always super rich. I didn't matter what I did to it they wouldn't change much.

Where did you dyno at? Also mustang numbers are lower because it is more of a real world dyno. My friend Nate gave me like a 20 minute explanation of why dynojets suck compared to a mustang dyno. I have since fofgotten. Booze drinks might have been involved.

Kelly Moss Motorsports is where I got it dyno'd.

I just read a few more informative posts on the Mustang vs Dynojet and Mustang is certainly the preferred dyno for real world numbers. Thanks for pointing that out Chuck.

I also got the results in from the SCCA Miller Event on raw time.

I came in 4th out of 41 entrants in raw time in the RWD street tire class. Hard to believe the car is that fast when I am running against S2000's, miatas, MR2's, M3's, Vettes, Mustangs ect!

I got beat in raw time by a S200 CR edition, the FC RX7, and a well prepped Genesis.

I am still in disbelief the car is that competitive on its debut run. I really want to have a go at it with someone codriving and keeping my tires hot, I bet I could have snagged 1st or 2nd in raw time in the entire RWD street tire class. The S2k was down in the 66's, not sure if I can make up that much time, hot tires or not. The other 2 were both piloted by double drivers so I would have liked to see us all on an even playing field. Especially since it was like 48-50 degrees outside. Insta cold tires. Boourns.

Sent out my oil pan yesterday to get a warranty one from Moroso/Enjuku. I resealed it 3 times and it kept leaking from the drivers side rear corner. I checked it with a machinist straight edge and it was not straight at all. The tig welding pulled the surface and I guess they didn't do a good enough job planing it when they were done. Oh well, no biggie, they are replacing it under warranty and paying for shipping so I am a happy camper.

Had to cut my intercooler piping down (Dustin, you were right on the money) because it was rubbing on my hood. Chop saw made that happen in no time.

Got three of these for my exhaust.

Riggle's 1990 240sx. - Page 4 Df7d9ae2-2648-4807-92a6-df63a2bba680

They only neck down to 2.5", hardly (if any) a restriction, especially at my lame power levels. Also going to put them towards the end of the exhaust so the gases will be much cooler and sincerely wont need 3" of space to vent properly out of the exhaust system.

May seem lame, but I am not about to cut up my nice stainless exhaust to put a muffler in there. I would rather buy an exhaust system with a muffler already on it as the S13 has about 10000000 different options.

On top of that, I love the way the exhaust looks. Straight, stainless, beautiful. No hunks of metal disturbing the chi of my OCD zen.

Ready to get it back on the road. I have already put 500+ miles on it even with the shady weather. I LOVE DRIVING THIS DAMN THING! Just a pleasure to cruise/roll around in.

Random update:

Raced the S13 again today out at Jefferson autox with MSCC, went awesome and I able to take 1st in AR ('A' class, race). Also was in the top 5 fastest cars present, 3rd fastest overall on street tires. CRX and Evo were the only 2 faster than I was. 1st fastest RWD street tire car present. Twisted Evil I am still in shock at how competitive the car is with the swap. Too bad 240's dont come with the SR stock...

Here are some random photo's I had yet to post, in no particular order.

PJ's exhaust section fit awesome and quieted the car down 2 fold. It was about 2 inches longer though so it made my tips stick out a little bit more than I wanted, but I can fix that with a cut off wheel/sawzall in due time.

Also, BIG thanks to NismoDave for the free PS pulley, fit awesome and I cant thank him enough for his generosity!

SOHC pulley I was using vs SR, underdrive...bad pulley! Makes for terrible PS pressures.
