Engine acting weird Empty
PostSubject: Engine acting weird   Engine acting weird EmptyTue Oct 04, 2011 4:18 pm

Soooo i only bought my 240 about two months ago and hasnt given me any trouble, I just changed the oil in it and now that i did the motor heats up a lot, a lot, a lot faster then before i changed the oil, i think it was just because the oil was so dirty from before but i just wanted an opinion. And also when im giving it very little gas (a little under 2,000 rpm) , it likes to bog. But over 2,000 rpm it doesnt bog. Any ideas?

That's most likely not from an oil change, just a coincidence.

Its strange though. The car took a good 20 minutes to warm up completly before the oil change and now that i did it takes less then 10 but doesnt over heat.

Either you have a sensor bad, (maf, ect, etc.) that's causing a rich condition,... or a leaky injector, bad fpr,... the list goes on and on.

The other 2 sensors that are notorious for causing running issues are the coolant temp sensor and the knock sensor. Both affect the timing and amount of fuel that is being dumped into the engine. As has been stated in the past many times about these cars, they are old and replacing all of these is a great way to eliminate them as problems right off the bat.

PostSubject: Bogging   Engine acting weird EmptyThu Oct 13, 2011 11:47 am

Well i have replaced my coolant temp sensor, cap and rotor, oil change, injectors, injector o-rings, plugs and wires, new maf, and new fuel filter. And it still boggs between 1000 and 2000 rpms pretty bad. Only thing i can think of is fuel pressure. Any other ideas?

Yeah, I have an idea... How about you test some of this stuff before throwing parts at it.

But you haven't checked fuel pressure or codes yet?

Bogging is a symptom of fuel/ air metering. It is most likely lean at the point where it bogs. SEARCH for your issues and see how to test/ diagnose/ repair, and quit thinking the answer is magically gonna be given to you over the internet.

single cam or dohc s13?

Singles dont have knock sensors, but dohc do. Usually if one of those 2 sensors are going bad it will run stupid rich (factory fail safes go rich not lean). And youll smell it in the oil and exhaust(more so the exhaust, in the oil if rings arent seated rite or are going bad). Ka24e and de's use the same coolant temp sensors (theres 2 of them, one small one bigger). It could be a mess of things; bad injector o-ring, leaky injector, maf going bad, bad coolant temp sensor(big sensor w/ rectangular plug for ecu, not small one thats only for the cluster), o2 sensor going bad, FPR bad, EGR bs being removed, coil going bad, bad plug wires, bad spark plug, and list goes on.

Check your ecu for codes. Then come back on here with which ones you have
