| ok were to start... so i fixed my starting problem on my ca18det, yah me...
well after driving for a day or so i start to notice little bit of smoke out the exhaust... now the smoke is white... well the car runs better with the o2 sensor unplugged (havent replaced it ) ok so heres the problem... white smoke comes out on idle and taking mainly... very very very rarely while driving after i got it i did a royal purple oil change with k&n filter (15w40) was told thats the best for ca's (from what i was reading) well i was reading more and ppl said it could have been the oil bc it was smoking wayyyy more after the oil change... so i did mobil1 5w50 i believe i got (dont quote me on that) well now the smoke is even worse... also on the back bumper there is i wanna say oil all over, and inside the exhaust is oil...
now here is what i have done/checked popped off all my piping and shit from throttle to intercool to turbo, no oil checked filter to maf and no oil in there either i am not getting any blow by? if that matters really its boosting fine at first i thought it was rings and/or bearings i just did compression bc i know everyone would tell me to check that here is my readings (did this while engine was hot, and throttle was open for each one, and i did a wet and dry test as well)
cyl 1 2 3 4 dry 130 125 127 135 wet 135 130 130 145
i have not done a leak down test yet bc i dont have the stuff to do it... there are so far only 4 things i can think of... oil was bad type of oil so try other shit.... the lifters on my exhaust side are bad or stuck open.... or i just need a tune really really bad last could be head gasket but oil was not milky nor bubbley but idk
now some info on the motor, ca18det gt28 turbo at 14lbs fuel pressure regulator walbro 255 full 3 inch exhaust no cat was supposablly rebuilt roughtly 2xxx miles ago head is new and clean, tomei cams (dont know what size) arp head studs and idk im forget other stuff
so everyone who has any imput it will be great... idk what else much i can do...
thanks

| Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought white smoke would be coolant burning, which would be the head gasket. If it were the piston rings, it would burn bluish. Any other color would be bad air/fuel mixture?
What does the exhaust smell like?

| i typed in to check your pipes for oil. i missed that the first time i skimmed through reading it. so i edited it and said nevermind.
anyways it could still be a turbo issue blowing out the exhaust only. check your breather system too

| Try removing the turbo and check for oil leaks. Blown turbo sometimes boost fine but leak oil that will cause smoke... but I still don't know why its white. | |

| Well the reason i checked all for my rings is because the oil in the exhaust andi thought it was blue smoke at first
But now it just seems white... the oil seemed fine when i did the 2nd oil change
I also agree that white equals coolant/water
The exhaust doesn't smell sweet or anything like coolant
Idk... im kinda in a jumble

| what oil feed/drain is on the turbo too big or too small of oil lines will kill them.
usually turbos when they are blown will smoke on decell tho.

| Yea idk, it blows smokes on idle and acceleration ... Think i should just replace th head gasket just to be safe? Then buy aftermarket oil andcoolant lines for th turbo? | |

| i know white generally = coolant however when my turbo blew it was white. if there is enough oil and it isnt burning (blue smoke is burning oil) then it will be white. dont just replace a head gasket. its prob something else. the drain could be plugged or it sounds like to me maybe a PCV problem | |

| Well what explains the oil in my exhaust and spitting all over my bumper? And could it be the smoke is so bad in my exhaust it gets hot and burns?
What oil would you guys recommend?

| Yea, I think your turbo is definitely spitting out oil. Anything wet on the exhaust will eventually burn and turn into smoke once it runs hot enough. Doesn't necessarily mean its coming from the engine. | |

| lol. sorry it just seemed that you had been ignoring that. if you have to much crank case pressure the oil wont drain out of the turbo drain efficiently which could cause that problem. i had a similar issue one time. | |

| I believe there should also be a oil restrictor inline on that turbo. too much pressure will cause it to spit oil out oil. If it doesn't have one it is a really cheap part to buy. | |

| Yea i had to put a restrictor on my buddies... so he has like a hard line running as the oil line... And like one of those chrome braided lines for the coolant... think i should purchase some real ones?
And what are you all asking for when you say breather system... i am gonna replace my pcv tomorrow since that's a cheap and easy thing to do...

| Run it open? As in unplug? Or take the whole airfilter side off hha? And idk if i can make one? Im not getting any blow by anyways so if in not running a restrictor could that mean to much oil to the turbo and its coming from the exhaust side? | |
