I'll mention a bit about what I've found...
I can say that EWP's are many times better overall than a similar mechanical pump both for drag racers and daily drivers. All of the top tier car mfr's are looking to EWP's for future use. BMW has been using them since 2005 in the 3 series with the N52 I6.
The common 7 amp, 35GPM unit @ 50% power uses about the same amount of power as a single 55W headlight bulb. 55W/13.8V=4A
Plus they free up a sizable amount of power at high RPM and increase FE. And a well designed pump has no reason to be less reliable than a cast stock mechanical unit. I see too many people claiming all of these are junk because of the cheap chinese crap people are running...
