| Subject: The Unicorn.... The tale of a neverending project....now with more 5 lug. Tue Feb 07, 2012 11:57 pm | |
| so April 13th, 2002 I went to go pick up a white '93 Nissan 240SX that I had won on ebay. Here is the story before I got it. It started out in Mississippi, then went to mobile alabama then they decided to move to chicago. it got pulled up here behind a u-haul and they never dropped the driveshaft (car was an auto). So anyway, she took it to a tranny shopp and apparently sued uhaul. the tranny shop told her how much it was gonna be so she apparently just took her stereo out and abandoned it. being in the mean streets of chicago for a bit being abandoned and neglected some vandals busted the power antenna and busted the windshield pretty badly then the car got sent to a salvage auction and ended up in a salvage yard in dodgeville wisconsin. this dood who i bought it from worked there and he bought the car and was gonna turn it into an auto-x car (he was in to 944 garbage and the like). anyway, he lost interest and off to ebay it went. i had to work the day it was going so i versed my dad in the art of sniping and .01 bidding. long story short i won the car for $1000.01. chyeaaaah. So anyway, we went to pic the car up during a fucking monsoon until we got to dodgeville. we also borrowed the bank bosses truck because we were considering buying it. he was like sure....try it out...and we were like...damn right, you rule. Loaded up at dudes house. Got it home. with my 2nd 240 stock ass....that exhaust ended up on jeff's car (secret squirrel) Project officially starting, circa 2004. took the front end off, josh now has these fenders and bumper end of my first night working on it. front end off, radiator out and i think i hade the engine harness off. put my front coilovers on. HKS Hipermax II...getting ready to pull the motor. load levelers are for people who do things the RIGHT way...pfffft fuck that. we're pros. messy messy shit is dirtier than pj's mind. push it outside to clean the engine bay 3 cans of foamy engine brite and a pressure washer later.... back inside conversion hoses and fresh resurface on the flywheel all ready to go in. most of my old silvia front end on and again, fuck your load leveler not sure why i took this pic but you can see my yashio factory pulley and some hose clamps that quickly got changed due to the nismo cap i assume. (too much pressure and they leaked) shits a mess, bro lasagna pinch welds wee.... more of the front end on and test fitting the skirts. pj now has that piggy lip put the tail lights in finally off jackstands and charging the battery to give her life. tieing up some loos ends underneath and putting on the rear coilovers. get a good view, city boy? blitz nur spec R...jdm version....its like 15 lbs lighter i guess blitz dp...these get really hot. megan test pipe...ugh....and a ss clutch line here she is all put back together inbetween test/tuning So anyway. I changed parts and got frustrated for the rest of the summer of '04 trying to get it not to run rich as fuck and cut out under load. tested pretty much everything i could think of. then that winter my grandpa passed away and i went into a bad state of deprssion for reasons related to it that i will leave out of this thread. if you really care you can ask me if i ever go to a meet. the next spring i was still pretty depressed and hating my job at the casino, especially because we had lost poker because ho-chunk basically signed an illegal gaming compact with gov doyle. my dad offered me a job, so i quit. i quickly discovered it is very hard to work with a family member when he is your boss especially after you move back home because the commute sucks. so anyway, my depression continued and i didn't work much so clearly i wasn't getting paid much either. ended up selling my stockpile of extra parts i had and decided to sell my silvia front for not enough money to eddy santana in chicago. (jdm180sx on most boards) so then it looked like this to be continued........

| Nope, I said it because it's in the title, and there's a pic of them. Just figured a bag that big wouldn't fit through the door.
Waiting for the next chapter...

| So...continuing on........every year it took a venture outside when we moved cars around, most of the time under it's own power. here is one from summer '10..you'll notice it has a wingless wiperless hatch...the one that was on it ended up getting painted and put on my red car before i sold it. and later that day in it's new spot this was in november '10 after i crushed the van all the parts were in. i got sick of looking at it with no front end on it. so i just set everything back on. After Automotion last year after cruising i got sick of all the shitty cars that were in the dells...i didn't see one nice 240 all weekend out cruising. So that kind of motivated me to work on my car or to get the parts in order to finish it. My sister also thought it was a good idea....but that was probably before she knew how much i was going to spend. Anyway, here it is last august after i had acquired most of my parts to make it better. My 6 y/o niece with my car...already taller than it. she rode in it down from the shed i had it in. for comparison....here she is the summer i started on it.....nom nom nom look at me, i'm a baby and i can drive stick, fuck your automatic, bro. So then I primer and painted my new hood from Aspec Performance for it..well, actually i did this before i took the car out. top first then the bottom then the paint. HOK Hot Pink Pearl has sort of a purple hue to it in different lighting put it on like a week later after it was fully cured with the silvia headlight brackets on too so then i decided to test fit my fenders and bumper and shit....i was bored. the fenders need a few shims and me to elongate the holes, but they arent that bad of a fit...bumper fits spot on. it was just ziptied in this pic. will be bolted when i am done. side skirts are just sitting there put one of them Gee-Ready V-SPL big radiators on er. ricer mods...not sure if i wanna use the 326 power wing or my huge Bwave wing sitting on the roof. prolly the Bwave tho since i have to stay true to my theme of "mods everyone hated from 1999-2002" and i leave you with this pic, for you jim... ..........to be continued.................... | |

| Looks like a great project. Have you done any work to the engine, or is that still stock? Do you still have it registered with that SIL80 plate? | |

| it is pretty much all stock. just basic shit, power enterprise intake, 3 inch exhaust from the turbo back and the water pump pulley. but it will have the fmic on it, a one piece hp and a hks ssqv. havent decided if i want to recirculate it yet. once i get it running decent stock then i will venture into performance parts. plan on either hks, tomei or bc cams, gt2871, thicker hg and maybe pistons in the future. not sure. i have another sr to build when i get to that point.

| you'd end up with about 3-4 coats of clear.....2 of them will have the flake in it and then that has to cure and then be sanded smooth and then more clear should be put on to protect the flake. this info is coming from a friend that went to school for custom paint. like i told you, i've never done something like that before and i don't exactly know how much flake would be needed, but by my guess, you're going to have a lot of money just tied up in that.
i'm not sure what your expectations are but if i am painting something for a customer i demand perfection out of myself and the paint job....perfection isn't cheap.
