| eh it could go either way. the kit was put on very poorly, and made the car look bad. i have a pignose bumper i could put on it but i hate the look of them. once i get around to the rust ill start looking for a silvia front for it. until then i have a list of other things to do still. | |

| Hm, long road man, not sure that car is worth sticking any money into. Id start with a fresh, rust free, southern car if you plan to put any sort of money into it. If not, then drive the piss out of it the way it sits, there is nothing wrong with that. But that car is beyond help, plus its a vert. Thats a double negative IMO. Or you can spend all the money and find out the hard way Just trying to help a fellow enthusiast out. | |

| i would have to say fix it. cause how many more of these so called "rust free" southern cars are left. if you keep giving up on all the ones that still can be fixed with people that want to fix them how many will there be in the end? they are getting crushed a lot. so if you are a fan of your new 240sx that you just bought then fix it. thats just my .02 | |

| ^ There are 100's out there still, maybe even 1000's. What it comes down to is perusing craigslist in Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Arizona, ect. I do it all the time for fun and find amazing cars out there. Sure, they aren't $500-$1500, they are more like $3000. But what is an untouched perfect chassis worth? No breaking bolts, no cutting out rust, no failing/rotted brake lines, no need to find a non rusty hatch, hell, most of the cars dont even need paint, just a buff wheel/clay bar job. Id say in all reality you just saved yourself $5k+ of actual work by just starting with the right car. I also know this from first hand experience and I can attest to the hidden work that all rusty crappy midwest cars hide. You think you have it all planned out, drill the spot welds off the panel with the rust and then get that stomach drop feeling when you haven't even scraped the surface. Exterior rust is only 5% of what lies beneath, its the final frontier. If it has exterior rust, its too far gone IMO. BTW, this is all opinion on the perspective of sticking money into a car. Actually racing a car, 24hr lemons/crap can racing, DD, eventually a parts car, the above certainly does not apply. | |

| rockers and quarters arent that hard to repair, but Rig holds a very good point. If its rusty there, then you can guarrantee the frame rails are gone gone, and lower seems on front shock towers are also missing. Which, to anyone in the rite mind, makes the car unsafe to drive. Southern cars arent hard to find if you know where to look, but hard to get because usually the seller will find someone local before going through the pain to ship it to you, or wait for you to fly your ass out to them.
Very soon will this forum have a great company to get southern cars through. But first i need to close on my new house, and get my shit moved into it.
If that vert has very nice shock towers (highly doubtful) and at least one good rail, then id save it. Frame rails can be patched, and even if the rocker is worse on the inside, youll probably cover it with a side skirt. Same with the rear quarter.

Ha, well put! I kind of wish I had a honda sometimes, road racing a honda is actually sick nasty (not to mention cheap). Specially an ITR/S2K, they dominate the road course. Light, good power, great suspension geometry, sick aftermarket...sigh. Hope she turns out for ya ludebehavior91, if you are going to do the work yourself you will actually learn alot. Its hard to put a $ value on learning, and you will no doubt mess up your first couple times so this is a perfect opportunity IMO.

| That car looked sooooo much better when I owned it.. Mismatched interior?!? You mean the s14 seats I put in it? I have pics of it when it was finished if you'd like to see how nice it was before I sold it... Also it had shaved handles and Lambo doors on it. I put thousands into that car.. It's worth saving... | |
