Well was looking for a classic import for a while actually a classic corolla. Prices have gone up on these now but then I found this 1973 240z for a reall good prove and it's a good solid starting point and ok interior . It'll take me a while since I'm looking to take some summer classes at school but well start soon.

Oh man the color on this thing is gross. I hate baby blue. The worst this is it almost matches the same color as my parents house haha. Will be ordering my poly bushing kit next week. And try to find a r200 vlsd to swap in. Starting from the rear and will be working my way forward. That way I'm not overwhelmed with crap. I tell ya though this thing is a light years better than my 71 celica.
Thanks

R200 VLSD is not a bolt in. I assume you are referencing the infiniti differentials that we use in the S13/14.

Join www.hybridz.org and read the tech sections, even though your car isn't swapped there is still endless amounts of excellent information over there.

Bushings are an absolute bitch on that car, but well worth it in the end.

How bad is the rust?

No referring to the z31 vlsd. Already looked into it, should be no problem. There is one small hole on the driver side floor board. And surface rust. Here and there but you never know till you dig in further.once I drop the rear subframe I'll find out out but from the I side the tire well is solid and wheel well also.

Check the seam carefully where the wheel well under the battery tray meets the firewall. Mine developed rust in that seam and I didn't find it until I could actually stick a screwdriver through the firewall. Best part was that I had the battery tray to the shock tower totally replaced about 4 years before that so it was either there, or showed up real fast.

That's what was my main concern. Checked as much as possible where the seems would run. With my finger pushing on it feeling anything spongy. Especially for notorious frame cracks and where the bar connects to the frame tend to split. But everything seem solid. I of 2 bond spots that the guy told me and Pointed out. That's the rear valance on the corner on the lower part of the fender. I can shape those from metal and weld. I went through. From the history I know so far Its beliveble that this is the reason why it's fairly solid. Better than the 280zx turbo and my 71 celica was for sure. Thanks for the advice.

72' no I don't have it. Long story short I parted it out to buy a daily driver when I could no longer afford 2 cars or a pot to piss in honestly. I still regret that decision to this day, but I had to do it at the time. There really wasn't another option.

Well removed the interrior last week. Found removed the rear panel only to find out that for some reason, the inner quarter panel was cut off.... Don't. Know why. I welded in another precise of sheet metal. Took me 2hrs just to do this. Listen learned that flapper wheel will thin out metal right away.

Looks to me like someone replaced that dogleg area including the door sill and was too lazy to weld the backside. I am not sure if you are planning on painting the whole car, but it would be in your best interest to strip that whole area on the outside to bare metal first. When I had my car the bodyshop didn't seam weld the area and spotted it/filler which cracked after 5 years. Just a headsup, that area is one of the most common to rust.

Your repair looks pretty good. Not sure how many flapper wheels you will go through, but I found this place online that has amazing prices on that stuff. http://www.lehighvalleyabrasives.com/servlet/StoreFront

I plan on stocking up, the ceramic flap discs are supposed to be amazing.

Yeah I tried looking to see if they replaced anything but, everything still has the factory spot welds. Yeah the the car will be getting painted hopefully by the end of summer. Will be putting in por-15. Thanks for that link I may just have to hit that up.

yeah dude, if you plan on going through quite a few of cutting discs etc.. those guys get amazing reviews and the prices are way cheaper than home depot etc...

Maybe someone was hiding drugs in there at one point (No I am not kidding!)

Wow just check that site out. Shits cheap! Ill be buying goods from there next week, thanks for that site. Also I decided I'll be replacing the floor board with zedd findings floors. I did notice they had stereo wires for the speaker. The harness I removed that goes back there had some melted insulation. I guess they were trying to get to it and must of giving up. Deck installation gone wrong I guess.
