Why did you buy a 240sx?

With the popular vehicles in the WI area being Camaros, Mustangs, Hondas, Evos, ETC..........You bought a 240sx.

Why?

I bought mine in 99 cause I thought it was the closest thing I would get to a Skyline back then. I was an ultra noob on the workings of the car, but knew it had potential.

Well I'm gonna sound a bit like a fan boy on this one but I first read about drifting sometime in 2000 and saw the s-chassis in videos and read about them in articles. I had to find the u.s.s equivalent and when I did I absolutely fell in love with the chassis and the style in drifting. Since that point I wanted one more than anything else and since that I am on my second car. I love the progression of the car and the limitless possibilities! I like to look at it as the underdog of the import scene in the states.

b/c mine was 600 dollars w/ alot of silvia/aftermarket goodies and i couldn't pass it up.
and then i realized how fkn sweet it was and had to make it fast.

only sports car i could afford lol

Not gonna lie, when I seen drifting... got to drive my friends a few years back and broke them loose.
Then I got myself one, and then 2... now I'm just trying to find a happy medium

Got my first 240 in December of 07, I always wanted a 240 because i thought they looked sweet when i played need for speed underground lol. I drove a honda civic before I got a 40, back when I didnt know about craigslist or really looked for a 240 cuz i just never seen them in my area. I was actually ganna buy another civic and my friend was helping me look for cars and asked hey do you want a 240 and BAM went and picked it up that week.. Thanks craigslist haha

Haha I think need for speed underground is also when I. Wanted one to, that was back when I couldn't even get my license haha I was whippin public trans around lmfao

I couldn't afford a newer Supra, I hate rotary engines, 300ZX's don't appeal to me, I wanted rear wheel drive, and the whole Mustang or Camaro crowd are a different breed...

had bought one wheb i was a year outta high school with aspirations of putting either a LS1 or a 2J in it. but was never able to get the funds up to do it

i got my first 240 in 2006 since than i have owned 12. the reason that i love them is tha tey are cheap to fix there are a bunch of parts availble for them and nothing beats a rwd in winter here in wisconsin haha

liked my High school car (still have it) the 240 was the next step up

1972 Datsun 240Z with an RB26DETT swap converted to RWD (bought in 86, restored in mid 90's, engine swapped in 99 after buying my new baby)
1998 Nissan 240sx with a LS1 and a T56 transmission all crate built

That's awesome!! You should bring the Z out sometime I would love to see that!
We have a friend that has a Z idk the year.. But its sooooooo clean and the engine bay is very nicely done to say the least, its been inafew magizines

do you have any pictures of your 240Z or your S14? both sound VERY nice.

we have another member with a LSX'd S14 too.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Add vettes to that last bit. LOVE vettes, hate the crowd.

New C5/C6 Z06's perform so great though...I may end up breaking down and buying one since I track the car so often. Way easier to buy one of the best track cars on the market than have boyish dreams of MAKING the best track car.

Then the 240 pulls me back to reality, no payment and $30/mo insurance reel me back in.

First of all I have a need to be sideways in a vehicle, I really like fox body mustangs but there are so many of them out there and I like to be differant. Not everybody looks at the 240sx like it's a sports car and thats why I like it for its level of "sleeperness"

Always liked the s14 and just couldnt pass it up for the price. Even for the condition it was in.

My first one 10 years ago, I was looking for a Z32 and stumbled on it. The current one, I just missed the old one.

I fell in love with 240's back in 94. I was in HS and was looking through Motor Trend with a buddy and saw an add, and I remember how much I loved the car at the time.

Fast forward to 2002 I started looking for a car to replace my 2000 Eclipse. But I wanted something that was more of a drivers car. I knew I wanted a RWD car, I wanted it to be light, I wanted it to be affordable, and I wanted it to have a stellar aftermarket (something my 3rd Gen Eclipse didn't have). So it came down to an MR2, Miata, and a 240. I was browsing forums all over and joined Zilvia in 03 and that's when i made up my mind to buy a 240. I learned everything I could about the car to make sure I got the exact model I wanted. Lets face it, chuki, kouki, pignose, S13, S14, S15, zenki, silvia, 180sx, 240sx, 200sx, sileighty, etc etc isn't the easiest thing to wrap your head around the first time you read it. I searched cars.com, autotrader, and ebay for like 4 months before I found one in Foulmouth, Kentucky I wanted to purchase. It was a 90 hatch with 83k and mint interior.

Someone pulled out in front of me and I t-boned them so that got totaled.

I bought a 93 Coupe a few months later.

I sold the coupe a couple years ago now and have been itching to buy another ever since.

i bought my first 240 when i was 15... lol i couldnt even drive it legally yet!!! lol my older brother bought the game NEED FOR SPEED 2 and everyone i knew starter car was the civic... i wanted to be different so i chose the 240sx... after playing if for afew weeks, i really started to like how they looked and seem to handle and thats when i told myself, my first car had to be a 240sx and not a honda... i started looking for a cheap running 5spd 240 and found one in madison for $3000... i then begged my older sister and my bro-in-law to give me a loan even though i didnt have a job to pay them back... they both agreed to lend me $1000 and pay the rest of the car so i had something to do to keep me out of trouble... they took me to madison to pick it up and even though it was a rust bucket, i loved it... i was the only 15yr old that had a car on the block so i felt cool.... hehe i started doing some very cheap mods and taught myself how to drive manual in the back ally... when i finally got my license, i drove that car everywhere and took care of it like it was one of my dogs... carwash, oil change, tune ups every so often even though it was a rust bucket... i ended up selling it to get a more reliable winter car "96 200sx se-r" and after that, my list of other nissan cars... i've tried 200sxs, spec vs, se-rs but nothing could compare to your first car especially a rwd one... "we all know thats where the funs at" After driving fwd cars for a good time, i really wanted a 240sx again so i traded my clean ass 2002 se-r spec v for a half-ass done 240sx... people always tell me im crazy or ask do i regret trading but i always tell them the same thing "once u go rwd you'll never go back" lol nothing like that first car love

that is the truth! i dont ever want to own a FWD car again... maybe AWD, never driven one so i wouldn't know haha. but i <3 RWD!

^^same... i never driving in a awd so cant say much... but wouldnt mind getting one...

i love awd dsm launches, they pull so freaking hard until someting breaks an your stuck in the side of the road somewhere . i like awd but i love rwd

im guessing their tranny??? lol my sis use to have a gts and the tranny went 2x before she sold it
