Finally pulled the car out of storage!!! Yay! Im pretty sure I was more excited for this than I was to walk at graduation on Sunday. Wasted no time getting the suspension pieces on, and seeing if these wheels would fit.
Please ignore how dirty the car is in these pictures. The trees in my area have some personal vendetta against white cars, I swear.
Stockedy-stock-stock. I cant believe these hubcaps have survived 24? years in Wisconsin, but somehow I still have them.
The fronts needed a 5mm spacer to clear the coilovers. I was not happy about this. I'm not super happy about how far they poke out, but whatever. Once I get it aligned and add a bit of camber, I'm sure it will look a little better.
Rear suspension. Pretty standard stuff. Old Megan Streets that I picked up from Nick and Liz last year, and the new ISIS RUCAs and Toe Rods. The inner bolt on the toe rods fought me HARD. God do I wish I had a garage and some air tools to help me out here.
I just marked the original alignment spots, measured the OEM components and matched the aftermarket stuff to that. So the alignment isnt really any different than it was before. Where does everybody go for their alignments on lowered/aftermarket cars? I've heard good things about Big Bear Tire in Oconomowoc. I would love to get the car corner-balanced and aligned to my personal specs, but I know a lot of big-box tire stores dont do that.
All done.
I hate working in the gravel.
Took her for a quick test drive to the GFs house. Everything seems to be ok. The drivers front rubs the splash shield over LARGE bumps, but so did the plasti-dipped Altima wheels last summer. If I decide to go any lower, which I probably wont, I will probably have to roll fenders, knock back the pinch weld, move the harness, and re-locate/modify the splash shields. I dont want to do that, so if I can get away with keeping it the way it is, I will.
My photo buddy wanted to go for a cruise, so we made our way down to UWMs parking garage. These are just iphone shots, "real" shots from his big-boy camera should be up soon.
His spyder that we just got running a few weeks ago. 6 bolt swap, 14b, ECMLink, etc etc. DSM stuff.
Anyway, I'm not sure if the wheels are really my style, but Ill rock them for now. The tires are a bit stretched, and the wheels stick out a bit much for my taste, but at its current ride height the car doesn't rub at all and is actually driveable. I drove it today 120 miles all over Milwaukee for work and I rubbed once. So I'll take it I guess. Let me know what you guys think!!
